Already Own? is a Chrome extension that checks whether you already own a game on Steam or Epic Games before buying it. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

Data We Collect

We collect nothing. The extension does not transmit any data to any server. There are no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, and no external services involved.

Data Stored Locally

The extension stores the following data on your device only, using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:

• Your game library (titles and their source: Steam or Epic) — populated by scanning your store accounts
• Your ignore list — games you have manually excluded from matching
• Dismissed badge records — pages where you clicked the dismiss button on an ownership badge
• Scan timestamps and debug log preference

This data never leaves your browser. It is not shared with, sold to, or accessible by anyone other than you.

Permissions Used and Why

• storage — Save your game library and settings locally in Chrome.
• scripting — Inject the "You already own this" badge onto Epic and Steam store pages.
• tabs — Open a temporary background tab on steamcommunity.com to read your Steam games list during a scan. The tab is closed immediately after.
• cookies — Read your existing Steam and Epic session cookies to authenticate API requests. The extension only reads cookies; it never creates, modifies, or deletes them. Cookies are not stored or transmitted anywhere.

Third-Party API Calls

During a scan the extension makes authenticated requests to Epic Games and Steam APIs on your behalf using your existing session. These requests are identical to what your browser would send when browsing those sites normally. No additional data is attached. The extension does not store API responses beyond the extracted game titles.

Third-Party Services

None. The extension does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Changes to This Policy

If a future update changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the extension changelog will note the change.
